Poets at the Library

Featured poets Sharon Olson and Vasiliki Katsarou read from their works for 20 minute each followed by an open-mic session. Born in California, Lawrenceville poet Olson worked as a librarian for the Palo Alto City Library for 29 years until her 2007 retirement. Sixteen Rivers Press published her book of poems, “The Long Night of Flying,” in 2006. Olson’s work has appeared in such journals as The Arroyo Literary Review, U.S. 1 Worksheets, and Cider Press Review, which nominated one of her poems for a Pushcart Prize.

Vasiliki Katsarou is a Pushcart Prize-nominated poet whose first collection, Memento Tsunami was published recently by Ragged Sky Press.  Her poems have appeared in Poetry Daily, wicked alice, Press 1, and US 1 Worksheets, and she directs the Panoply Books Reading Series in Lambertville, NJ.  In 2010, she collaborated on a multimedia show with Japanese painter Minako Ota called “Fragments of the Muse” at Swan Creek Gallery in Lambertville, NJ.  She holds an MFA from Boston University, a degree in literature from Harvard College, and she also wrote and directed an award-winning 35mm short film about utopia called Fruitlands 1843.
