Films and Discussion: “4.1 Miles” and “From Damascus to Chicago”

Attend a screening of two short documentaries: “4.1 Miles” and “From Damascus to Chicago,” followed by a moderated discussion with NPR award-winning journalist Deborah Amos and Tom Charles of Nassau Presbyterian Church’s refugee resettlement team. They will discuss the global refugee crisis as well as refugee resettlement locally and around the world.


“4.1 Miles” follows a day in the life of a captain in the Greek Coast Guard who, despite limited resources, attempt to save thousands of migrants from drowning in the Aegean Sea. 24 minutes.





“From Damascus to Chicago” examines a Syrian family recently resettled in Chicago as they navigate a new city and country. 24 minutes.
