Have you visited the second floor magazine collection lately? Have you searched the catalog for magazines? You can now browse the collection in Bibbliocommons, put magazines on hold, and best of all, check them out! As of May 7th, customers can check out most of our 300 titles, including our 2012 issues, except for the current issue. We're keeping the most recent copies in the library so everyone can browse them while they're hot off the press.
The library's magazine collection includes a varied collection from A to Z (literally): "AARP Bulletin" to "Zhuan Ji Wen Xue." If you have an interest in home remodeling or decorating, check out "Dwell" and "Good Housekeeping" or if you're the outdoorsy type, browse "Field and Stream" or "National Parks." If politics are your interest, curl up with "Newsweek," "Foreign Affairs," "The Atlantic" or "Mother Jones" and if you are inspired by food, check out a copy of "Vegetarian Times," "Cooking Light" or "Food Network Magazine."
The suggestions could go on and on, but I'm sure you get the idea. Next time you're in the library, take a look at our fabulous magazine collection on the second floor, find a comfy place to relax and read. When you're ready to head home, head to Lending Services or to the Self Check Out.
The library's Consumer and Medical collections have also been updated. The Medical collection includes medical newsletters from the Mayo Clinic, several from Harvard, and others, including a medical letter from Johns Hopkins. Feel free to check out "Prevention Magazine" but please read "JAMA" in the library since it cannot be checked out.
Our popular "Consumer Reports" can be found in two areas of the library. There is a non-circulating collection in the Consumer section on the second floor just outside the Tower Room and also a circulating collection with the main collection of magazines. A third copy of Aprils' popular car issue can also be found behind the Reference Desk.
Whether you're doing research, reading for pleasure or just browsing, grab a magazine or a stack and check them out!
