The Board Film Festival at PPL seeks to offer a range of exciting films, about people testing incredible limits, captured in surf and skate boarding films, and one feature documentary on snow boarding. This film, First Descent, had is theatrical debut last year and features 2006 Olympic gold medalist Shaun White and four of the other top world snowboarders taking on the mountains of Alaska (screening at noon on Friday July 14 and again on Saturday July 15.)Drop in Tuesday through Friday for noon-time screenings of skate, snow and surf board films: Singer Jack Johnson’s Thicker Than Water on Tuesday, Strapped, the Evolution of Town-in Surfing on Wednesday, DC Skate Video on Thursday, and First Descent on Friday.Thursday July 13 will be dedicated to skate films only and includes the daring moves of street and tournament skaters like Danny Way, beginning at noon; in the afternoon there is open screen time and local skateboarders are invited to show their own street-shot skate videos, so skaters, byo videos ; Lords of Dogtown, the 2005 fictionalized feature film version of the legendary Dogtown Z-Boys directed by Catherine Hardwicke and written by Stacy Peralta, will be screened at 4:30 p.m., followed by skater-turned-filmmaker Stacy Peralta’s excellent documentary Dog Town and Z-Boys at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday and Sunday feature surf films exclusively and on Wednesday there's a double feature of “chick” surf flicks with the retro Ride the Wild Surf on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with fab-four Shelly Fabares, Barbara Eden, Fabian and Tab Hunter in action on the beach, and then fast forward to 2002 with girls getting off the beach and into the surf and on board in Blue Crush at 3 p.m. On Sunday the line-up features three acclaimed surfing documentaries: director Stacy Peralta turns the camera from skateboarding to surfing in Riding Giants, his 2004 documentary chronicling some of the most famous rides and riders in surfing at 1:15; the hypnotic Step Into the Liquid, released in 2003; and the series will close out with the classic, and timeless, surf film, Bruce Brown’s Endless Summer, following two surfers around the world in search of the perfect wave.
