DESCRIPTION

An organization whose mission is to secure, promote and

protect the civil rights of, and increase access to

education for, Latin Americans in the Greater Princeton

area. The Board of Trustees includes immigration attorneys,

corporate executives, community activists, teachers, and

members of religious, social service and cultural organizations.

PROGRAMS

LALDEF Immigrant Legal Education and Referral Program: This

program's goals are to prevent civil or human rights violations

of Latinos by increasing awareness and understanding of those

rights among immigrants, providers of social services and

government agencies and to provide assistance to those who

may have been victimized by employers, landlords or

businesses.

Bienvenida Program: seeks to increase access to affordable legal

services and civic education to low-income Latino immigrant

families in Mercer County. In conjunction with Boaz Community

Corporation of New Brunswick, LALDEF offers legal advice, assistance

with immigration family petitions, and representation in immigration

and family law cases. LALDEF also hold legal clinics from time to time

on immigration and family law throughout Mercer County.

Office Hours: Saturdays, 10 AM - 12 NOON, no appointment necessary;

and every other Thursday 5:30-7:30 PM by appointment only. The

office is located in the basement of the Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61

Nassau St., Princeton, NJ.
