DESCRIPTION
A county government agency which operates the federally
funded Workforce Investment Act (WIA), a program which
offers Mercer County residents, aged 16 and over, job readiness
and placement services, and if appropriate, training in high
demand occupations. It also offers employers on-the-job
training and enables employers to receive tax credits by hiring
employees from designated target groups.

Outreach: Assessment of skill levels, aptitudes, abilities and
supportive service needs; Job search and placement
assistance; Employment statistics information; Job vacancy
listings in labor market areas; Information on job skills
necessary to obtain employment; Information and assistance
relating to the availability of supportive services; Information
regarding filing claims for unemployment compensation;
Individual counseling and career planning; Case management
for training services; Short-term prevocational services,
including development of learning skills, communication skills,
interviewing skills, punctuality, personal maintenance skills and
professional conduct, to prepare individuals for unsubsidized
employment or training
