DESCRIPTION

A volunteer organization which provides guidance, inspiration,

and leadership to more than 17,855 Cub, Boy and Explorer

Scouts throughout Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset,  Hunterdon,

and Warren counties.  Boy Scout programs promote character

development, citizenship, personal fitness, courage and self-

reliance.

PROGRAMS

Cub Scouts:  Family oriented program for boys ages 8-10.  10-

year-olds are called Webelos. Emphasis on quality program at

local level.  Boy Scouts:  Program for boys ages 11-17 with

emphasis on leadership training and outdoor activities.  Boys

take responsibility for peer group leadership.

Exploring Scouts:  Co-ed program for young adults ages 14-

20 (must have completed 8th grade). Emphasis on career-

oriented programs offering leadership training, life skills, service

 learning, character education and hands-on career experience.

Tiger Cub:  School-Year program for 1st grade (or 7-year-old)

boys and adult partners stressing relationships with adults,

community learning and family understanding.

Venturing: Coed program for ages 14-20 (must have

completed 8th grade). Aims to provide positive experiences to

help youth pursue special interests, leadership and citizenship skills.

Varsity Scouting: Active program for young men 14 through 17

built around five fields of emphasis: advancement, high

adventure, personal development, service and special programs.

Learning for Life: Co-educational program designed to help

schools and organizations prepare youth to handle today's

complex society.
