DESCRIPTION

The county government organization which was responsible for

protecting the safety of county residents by planning for and

responding to natural disasters and emergencies occuring within

 the county by training firemen through the John T. Dempster

Fire Service Training Center; by confining adults who have been

charged or convicted and sentenced for illegal activities; and by

performing autopsies to determine the cause of death through

the Office of the Medical Examiner. These are now separate

entities within Mercer County Government.
