DESCRIPTION

A state-licensed not-for-profit social service agency providing

affordable, accessible services to a diverse community in need,

whose purpose is to strengthen family life and to prevent the

breakdown of the family. JFCS provides confidential professional

counseling on a non-sectarian basis to children, adults, families

and seniors who live and/or work in the Greater Mercer County

area. Fees may be adjusted on a sliding scale, and no one is

denied service because of inability to pay. Medicare Prt B

PROGRAMS

Senior Services:  1) Life Enrichment Program for the Elderly:

Project Highgate Apartments, 1 Highgate Drive, Suite A-1,

Ewing, NJ 08638; contact Barbara 609-987-8100, Ext. 110.  2)

Additional Senior Services: A comprehensive array of programs

 and support services for caregivers and seniors, including

Geriatric Assessment, Family Consultation Service, Counseling

(office- and home-based), Residential Transition Planning, Care

Management, Life Enrichment and Community Education

The Kosher Cafe: Provides kosher nutrition in a social

atmosphere at The Woodbrook House, 865 Lower Ferry Rd.,

Ewing, NJ 08628. Reservations required 24 hours in advance.

The Europa Club: A support and socialization program for

Holocaust survivors. Help with applications for reparations

Aging in Place' NORC Program: The JFCS 'Aging in Place'

program is centered in the Twin Rivers section of East Windsor.

 It is open to all individuals 60 years and above who live in East

Windsor and Hightstown. The goal of this project is to provide

the types of services older aduts need to continue living in their

 homes, rather than moving into alternative forms of adult

housing. Home-delivered meals, health and wellness programs,

information and referral, educational and recreational services

are examples of the services this program provides. Services

are ongoing. Please contact Linda Meyer, Program Coordinator,

questions about the JFCS program.

Family Life Education Groups:  The following groups run from

time to time throughout the year: 1) Bereavement Support

Group: A group which meets weekly for discussions and

support. 2) New Mom's Group: An eight-week group for new

mothers to connect with other mothers and discuss the daily

ups and downs a new baby brings to the family. Meets at the

Jewish Center in Princeton. 3) Parenting Groups: Single and

multiple-session presentations that address the challenges of

parenting. Topics include, but are not limited to, Raising

Resilient Children; The Overstressed Child; Body Image and

Eating Disorders; Mean Girls; Needs vs. Wants. 4) Adolescent

Groups: Multiple-session groups designed for teens and pre-

teens to discuss adolescent issues including self-esteem, body

image, relationships, families and self-expression. Feelings and

experiences are shared in a supportive environment through

discussion and age-appropriate activities. Contact Debra at

Secure@Home - a membership-based initiative of Jewish Family

& Children's Services of Greater Mercer County. It is a non-

sectarian program that provides the peace of mind and security

a senior wants, while alleviating the concerns family members

and caregivers have for their aging parents. Secure@Home's

purpose is to help the seniors and their families in many

different ways, including coordinating all the services needed to

maintain their independence.
