DESCRIPTION

A local organization which promotes the interests of amateur

astronomers in the area, and provides joint programs with the

state planetarium.  The club has two observatories: one  located

near the Nature Center in Washington Crossing State Park,

with a computer-controlled 14 Schmidt Cassigrain and 6.5

refractor telescopes, is open to the public every

Friday night of each month, April through October.  The other

is in Jenny Jump State Park near Hope, New Jersey.  This

observatory is on the grounds of the United Astronomy clubs of

New Jersey and houses a 12.5 Newtonian telescope and is open

only to members of the AAAP.

PROGRAMS

The organization features lectures on current topics of

astronomy by professional astronomers from Princeton

University, Rutgers, The Institute for Advanced Study, and

other scientific institutions.
