DESCRIPTION
A non-profit choral organization consisting of a 70-voice Chorale
of skilled volunteers, and a 20-voice semi-professional chamber
chorus. VOICES performs historic and contemporary
masterworks as well as newly commissioned works. Its mission
is to interest the public in vocal music, both old and new, familiar
and unique, through high-quality performances, outreach
activities, and educational programs. 6 - 12 concerts are
presented each year in Princeton, Pennington and Philadelphia,
accompanied by full orchestra or chamber groups.
PROGRAMS
Educational programs include an annual composition contest
for children; composition workshops for children are also
produced. Volunteer singers receive instruction in music
reading, vocal technique and music history; concert audiences
are informed through lively pre-concert discussions;
composition workshops for children; consultation on music lessons for children.
Educational programs for adults: 6-8 week courses in voice and
musicianship.
Outreach Concerts at NJ and PA retirement centers
Internships in conducting available.
Paid positions in piano accompanying available periodically.
Student stipends for singers.
