transitional housing and other services to at-risk, homeless,

runaway, throwaway, abused and other youth and their famlies.

PROGRAMS

Anchor House Shelter: a Basic Center program for runaway,

homeless and at-risk youth in Mercer County, NJ. The principal

goal is to provide for the immediate needs of runaway and

homeless youth and their families, seeking to reunite youth

with their families, strengthen family relationships and help

youth decide on a constructive course of action. Services are

available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, and consist of

temporary shelter, food and clothing, individual and family

counseling, crisis intervention, medical referrals, advocacy, drug

and alcohol abuse prevention and education, support groups,

psychiatric and psychological evaluations.

Angel's Wings: provides services to homeless, abused and

neglected children (birth to age 12). Community Homes

function as emergency shelters operated by live-in staff, child

care providers and certified volunteers. Children generally stay

no longer than 30 days until permanent homes can be found in

the community, or the children can be reunited with their

natural families.

Anchorage Transitional Living Program: provides transitional

living services to homeless youth ages 18-21, and youth ages

18-21 who are aging out of the New Jersey child welfare

system, to ensure successful transition to independence. Each

youth is assisted in developing the skills necessary to obtain

and maintain permanent living arrangements, gainful

employment, community resources, appropriate medical care,

financial assistance, and behavioral and health emergency crisis services.

Anchor Link: The agency's Street Outreach program. The

primary purpose is to provide education and prevention services

to reduce the incidence of runaway, homeless and street youth,

to build relationships that will assist youth to trust staff in

order to leave the streets, and to provide necessary support

services to help youth become productive members of society.

Anchor Link provides crisis intervention and counseling, shelter

services or assistance in locating safe living arrangements,

referrals, advocacy and service linkages, individual assessment

and life skills, and transportation.

Additional Outreach Programs:  1) Runaway Prevention

Program provided by the Trenton Police Department which

works with youth and families who have been referred by the

police department as in need of crisis intervention services;  2)

School Outreach Counselor who works with the schools

throughout Mercer County to provide crisis intervention

services whenever needed and acts as a liaison to the schools

to ensure that the youth who stay at Anchor House are

receiving education services while in placement.

House which sponsors the annual Ride for the Runaways.
