DESCRIPTION
A special school district, comprising all of Mercer County, which
exists to serve the educational needs of children within the
county with handicapping conditions for whom comprehensive
programs and services could not reasonably be provided in local
public school districts. It is partially funded by the county but
falls under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Department
of Education and is similar in nature and structure to the other
ten public school districts in the county.
PROGRAMS
Project Child: includes the Special Child Health Services Case
Management Program, Project Child Clinic Programs, Project
Child Assessment Service, Family Support Program.
Cooperative Health Services, and an Integrated Preschool Program.
School Programs: Multiply Handicapped, Emotionally Disturbed,
Preschool Handicapped, and Autistic Programs located at the
Mercer Junior-Senior High School, Mercer Elementary, Joseph
F. Cappello School, and the New Jersey Regional Day School at
Hamilton
Project Adults: The primary focus of this project is to obtain
and maintain community placements and adult services for
graduates.
