DESCRIPTION
Womanspace is a not-for-profit agency providing a
comprehensive array of services to individuals impacted by
domestic and sexual violence and dedicated to improving the
quality of life for women and their families.
PROGRAMS
Residential Emergency Shelter Program: Provides a short-term
secure facility in a confidential location for battered women and
their children. The shelter provides parenting assistance;
systems advocacy, and group, individual and peer
counseling, court advocacy, legal clinic and
community workshops.
Counseling and Support Program: Provides individual and
group counseling, court advocacy, legal clinic and community
workshops.
The Next Step Transitional Housing Program: Fills the gap
between emergency shelter and permanent housing for up to
one year for battered women and their children. Also provides
referrals for permanent housing, assistance in child care
selection, access to job training and counseling.
Womanspace Residential Awareness Program (WRAP): Funded
by the N.J. Division of Developmental Disabilities to meet the
residential and programming needs of developmentally disabled
women and their children. Provides one-on-one instruction in
budgeting, scheduling, food and nutrition, personal care, and
communication and parenting skills.
Education and Training Program: Provides community
education, consultation, and technical assistance to families,
religious communities, schools, and health care and law
enforcement and other professionals within the community.
Domestic Violence Victim Response: A program run in
conjunction with local police departments which provides
trained volunteers to meet with victims of domestic violence in
the police station at the time of crisis. Princeton Borough Police
Department participates in this program. A related response
program, Sexual Assault Support Services, provides services
for victims of sexual assault, including emergency response via
hotline, group and individual counseling, accompaniment for
hospital exam, law enforcement or court processes. Anyone
