DESCRIPTION
An intergenerational organization established by members of the
Class of 1955 to mobilize Princeton University alumni, students
and others who share concerns, to provide civic leadership and
to develop and implement solutions to systemic problems that
affect the public interest.
PROGRAMS
Public Interest Internship Program: Provides opportunities for
students to develop their civic and leadership skills to become
more effective citizens through their chosen careers. Since
1990, PP55 has placed nearly 1,300 young Princetonians in
summer or year-long positions of significant responsibility in
more than 350 nonprofits. As of 2005, the Class of 1969
Community Service Fund took on all PIP internships, allowing
PP55 to focus on year-long Fellowships.
The Alumni Network: Through the Alumni Network (TAN) PP55 has partnered with
30 institutions of higher education and alumni classes to develop similar public
interest organizations in the spirit of the PP55 model of alumni civic commitment.
Public Health Fellowship: The Public Health Fellowship Program
(PHF) was approved by the Board for implementation in the
coming year. Using the PIP model, PHF aims to recruit and
develop a new generation of public health professionals by
providing them with outstanding, life-altering employment
experiences in the public health field.
