DESCRIPTION
The by-laws of the Dogwood Garden Club state that the
purpose of the organization is to stimulate an interest in
gardening, to encourage the conservation of plant and wild life
and to take part in community gardening projects. The club runs
a monthly horticultural therapy program at Merwick Rehab
Center, and does holiday decorations there as well as at Morven.
It also maintains a garden planting area at the Princeton Township
Municipal Building. Member of the National Council of Garden Clubs, Inc.
and The Garden Club of New Jersey - District VI (federated as of January, 1959)
PROGRAMS
The club sponsors nine programs each year of interest to
gardeners, such as Flower Arranging for Shows and Homes.
Members tour famous local gardens, and some participate in
the adjudicated NJ State Horticulture Show. The club also
produces standard flower and horticultural shows and features
occasional lectures.
The club designed, developed and maintained a flower and
shrub garden at the Township Municipal Building.
