DESCRIPTION

A public benefit (nonprofit) organization working to connect

individuals, corporations and nonprofits to each other and to

issues and causes that matter in Mercer County and central New

Jersey,  the Princeton Area Community Foundation provides

competitive discretionary grants and makes advised grants to

nonprofits after consultation with individuals or groups of

donors. It also serves as a convener and catalyst, leveraging

new funds and creating partnerships to enable residents to

solve community problems. The Community Foundation manages more than 200

individual, family and corporate funds, and nonprofit agency

endowments. It is one of more than 660 community foundations

in the United States and internationally. Less than 2% of

Foundation funds are used for administration, including

investment management, which puts 98% of all funds to work

for charitable purposes. In 2007 the Foundation awarded grants

totaling more than $2.5 million from the Greater Mercer Grants

Program, advised grants, the New Jersey AIDS Partnership and

private foundation partnerships. The Community Foundation's primar

y service area includes Trenton, the 12 other Mercer County municipalities

and surrounding communities in Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex,

Monmouth and Burlington counties.

PROGRAMS

flexible way to give back to the community with giving options

addresses critical community needs; advised funds for donors

who want to be involved in the grants process; field-of-interest

funds that support specific nonprofits; designated funds

created to support specific nonprofits; scholarship funds that
