DESCRIPTION

A non-profit, pastoral counseling service, accredited by the

State of New Jersey, which offers interdisciplinary and

ecumenical counseling for adults and children.  The staff is

composed of clergy, psychiatrists, psychologists and social

workers from all religious denominations within the Judeo-

Christian tradition.  Fees are on a sliding scale and are covered

by many insurance plans; no one is refused service if unable to pay.

PROGRAMS

Advanced Professional Training:  A program which

provides advanced training for psychologists, social workers

and pastoral counselors in such areas as substance abuse,

bereavement, incest, resistance to therapy.  Must have

graduate degree in psychology, social work or pastoral counseling.

Clinical Supervision for Clergy:  A program which

assists clergy in counseling those in their congregations who

need help.  Must be a member of the clergy stationed in a

congregation of any denomination.

Family Wellness Resource Center:  A resource offering

programs and workshops to the community at no charge, with

a focus on maximizing the strengths that diverse varieties of

families possess, and prevention.  Topics include marriage

enrichment, parenting, support in the first year of marriage,

dual career families and growing older.  The Center now has a

library of books, audio-visual tapes, and computer programs

open to the public and free of charge. Family Consulting,  an

outgrowth of the Wellness Project, offers healthy families 1-3

sessions during periods of normal stress, hoping to increase

coping and avoid becoming derailed by arguments, alcohol and

drug abuse, separation and divorce. Examples of developmental

stages: first year of marriage; birth of first child; first child

entering school; last child leaving school; parents returning to

work; middle age, retirement, death of parent, spouse or child,

serious illness

Childhood Intervention Project:  A program which

serves the needs of at-risk children from low-income families,

beginning in preschool and through elementary school, by early

identification of behavioral/developmental problems, and by

providing interventions to keep these problems from becoming

larger as the child grows.  Currently, this is offered through the

Princeton Nursery School for preschool children, and through

the Princeton Regional School District for elementary and

middle school children.  These services are offered free of charge.

Assessment Center: Provides services for children,

adolescents, adults, couples, families, community agencies and

business and corporate organizations at reasonable cost.

Preparing for Marriage: Designed for couples. Specially-

designed six-week counseling and consultations program
