Book groups and more...

The library plays host to multiple book groups. Check out our Books & Reading page for links to times, dates and selections.

Are you trying to determine the next choice for your own book group? We have lists online of what area groups are reading. Come and browse our book group table, located on the first floor, for ideas.

The library will purchase multiple copies of a title. Ask for a request form at the Welcome Desk.

What is your group reading?

fun%2Bhome%28WHATISYOURGROUPREADING%29.jpgIs it your turn to pick the book for your group? Stumped? Check out the American Library Association's list of notable books. It's an annual list and includes fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.

Looking for something for your children? ALA also maintains a Notables list for childrens' books.

And, don't forget, Novelist is a fantastic resource that you can access from our database page. There are discussion group questions, readalike lists, reviews, and much more, completely accessible from home with your Princeton Public Library card.

Check it out.

Talk Amongst Yourselves

uncommon%20reader.gif Whether you’re looking for your next book club selection or you’re just in the mood to browse some popular titles, the book group table located on the first floor is your one stop “borrowing” destination. Local book groups submit requests to the library to purchase multiple copies of their discussion titles and titles are rotated on a regular basis to maintain currency. The following is a sampling of what your neighbors are talking about this month.

The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett
Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Dough by Mort Zachter
The Winter of our Discontent by John Steinbeck
Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky
The Looming Tower by Lawrence Wright
What is the What by Dave Eggers
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
The Gravedigger’s Daughter by Joyce Carol Oates
The Icarus Girl by Helen Oyeyemi

Calling all book groupies!

Psst...in doing some research on book group ideas, I came across a great contest that I think all of you should enter. Harper Collins is hosting a "Free Books for a Year" sweepstakes which includes 12 copies of a different book every month for a year! The books they are offering are great selections for book groups. Take a look and enter!http://www.harpercollins.com/features/bookchattersweeps/

By the way, October is National Reading Group month. Save the date, October 18, to join us at the library to check in with other local groups. See what they are reading; check out some great resources for titles, and more! Stay tuned for more details and drop me a line if you're interested.
