    Notwithstanding the stormy weather a fair sized, interested and appreciative audience assembled in the Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Church, on Thursday afternoon, the 23d inst., at 2.45 o'clock, to witness the closing exercises of the Witherspoon Street School. The platform was tastefully decorated, and upon it were seated the school, a member of the school Board, and invited guests.
    The following programme of exercises was executed on the part of many in a commendable manner:

    Then followed the presentation of prizes. L. H. Anderson, Secretary of the Board of Education, presented prizes to Viola Mason and Louisa Little, of the Primary department ; Lizzie Lake and Johnnie Stocker, of the Intermediate Department, and to Maggie Vansant and Anna M. Hubbard, of the Grammar Department, for attendance, punctuality and deportment.
    In addition to these, prizes were given to pupils in the Primary Department by their teacher, Rev. W. D. Robeson, as follows : To Sophia Hall, for regular attendance and general excellence, a copy of Pilgrim's Progress ; to Cora C. Davis, for regular attendance and excellence in scholarship, a copy of The Vicar of Wakefield ; to Lena V. Davis, for regular attendance, The Parent's Assistant ; to Adele P. Jones, for general excellence, Lalla Rookh.
    Benediction was pronounced by Rev. W. Johnson.
