Mr. Dowers died on the 18th day of July, and on the 21st inst., Mr. Voorhees paid Mrs. Dowers the amount of the insurance, $29.75, receiving her thanks for the timely aid. |
Princeton Press, Sat., Oct. 2, 1880: Joseph Ridley Onquey, a colored man, well-known in town, was found dead in the woods near his residence on the mountain back of Princeton, on Sunday morning. He had gone thither to chop wood and a limb of a tree fell on him, crushing his head so as to cause death. He had lain there several days and was somewhat decomposed and had been partly eaten. His horse had been tied to a fence near by and was still alive. The case was evidently one of natural death through an accident. Onquey was 65 years of age. |
