DESCRIPTION
The Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) is a program of the YWCA Princeton dedicated to providing information and support to those affected by breast cancer, and to increasing breast cancer awareness in the community. Programs and services are free and include breast cancer awareness talks, an educational seminar, a guest speaker series, a resource library, a telephone hotline, support groups, a woman-to-woman telephone network, a wellness program and a wig and prosthesis bank.-
PROGRAMS
SUPPORT GROUPS: BCRC support groups provide an opportunity for those affected by breast cancer to share questions, concerns and coping strategies in a comfortable, understanding environment.
Breast Cancer Support Group: 3rd Tuesday, 7:30-9:00 p.m. or 4th Wednesday, 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m., Bramwell House living room, YWCA Princeton. Provides support to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients, those in treatment and those on the road to recovery. Topics of discussion include coping with treatment side effects, communicating with doctors and families, facing fears, self-image and much more. Clinical social worker Lois Glasser facilitates the evening group.
Young Women's Breast Cancer Support Group: 1st Wednesday, 7:30-9 p.m., Bramwell House Living Room, YWCA Princeton. Provides support to women under 45 who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Topics of discussion include fertility, coping with treatment side effects, managing young families, dating, self-image and much more. Breast cancer survivor Nancy Healey facilitates
Advanced Breast Cancer Support Group: 1st and 3rd Mondays, 7:30-9 p.m., Bramwell House Living Room, YWCA Princeton. Provides support for women living with stage IV breast cancer. Topics of discussion include coping with treatment side effects, facing fears, communicating with family and much more. Clinical social worker Elsje Reiss facilitates.
Support Circle: 3rd Tuesday, 7:30-9:00 p.m., Library, YWCA Princeton. Provides support to spouses, parents, siblings, adult children and friends of breast cancer patients/survivors. Topics of discussion include practical helping strategies, finances, communicating, caregiver burnout and much more. This meeting is held at the same time as the evening Breast Cancer Support Group (but in a different room). Clinical social worker Elsje Reiss facilitates.
Guest Speaker Series: 2nd Tuesday, 7:30-9 p.m., Bramwell House Living Room, YWCA Princeton. Monthly lectures on breast cancer related issues provided by health care professionals. Open to anyone with an interest in breast cancer. Call BCRC for schedule.
Breast Cancer Helpline: Provides personalized breast cancer information and support. Call 609-497-2126
Wellness Program: Provides free classes such as yoga, movement and art therapy for breast cancer patients/survivors to help maintain quality of life during and after breast cancer treatment. Call BCRC for a class schedule.
Wig & Prosthesis Bank: Provides new wigs, mastectomy bras, and breast forms free to women in need. Fittings are conducted Monday-Friday, 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. by trained staff in a private fitting room. Call BCRC for an appointment.
Woman to Woman Network: A telephone support system that matches breast cancer patients with breast cancer survivors who have had similar experiences to provide short- and long-term support. Matches can also be made for husbands.
Resource Library: A wide range of books, reference materials, magazines, videos, tapes, CD's and DVD's on breast cancer and related topics. Visitors are welcome to relax and read in our multipurpose room between 12 noon and 5 pm. on weekdays, or borrow two items for up to 2 weeks.
Breast Cancer Education and Outreach: BCRC helps community organizations, school classes, church groups, companies, or women's groups to get the facts about breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Talks duscuss risk factors, symptoms and screening, and include a demonstration of breast self-examination (BSE) and a breast cancer survivor's personal story. BCRC also participates in community and health fairs sponsored by community groups, medical associations and corporations. BCRC Peer Educators are available to answer questions, teach BSE, and provide educational materials to take home. The Source (quarterly newsletter) - provides easy-to-understand, impartial, local information on breast cancer related issues including treatment advances, survivor stories, Q&A, nutrition, exercise, and community events in support of breast cancer. DESCRIPTION
A club for those new to the Princeton area, as well as those making lifestyle changes or just wanting to make new friends. The club provides opportunities to make new friends, get acquainted with the area, enjoy interesting activities and share resources. Some of the more than 30 interest groups for women, and/or couples which meet regularly: cooking/dining, books, crafts, Princeton history, Bridge, gardening, golf, tennis, hiking, art, genealogy, French, German and groups for moms with kids.

Social Coffees: Occasions designed to introduce women to club activities; they are held third THURS of the month, free of charge, at Bramwell House or members' homes.

DESCRIPTION
A club which provided opportunities for walking, jogging, hiking, picnicking and meeting new friends while enjoying the fresh air. Members used a map and compass to navigate a specific course; they can choose to stroll leisurely while stopping to smell flowers and observe wildlife, or they can run a timed competitive course. For all ages, degrees of fitness and skill. Events take place at state parks, forests and nature preserves.

A membership organization of more than 6000 which offers a variety of quality affordable programs and services for individual growth and development, skills and enrichment, health education and recreation for women, men and their families. Scholarships provide need-based funds to participants; subsidies are available to partially fund membership dues. After School Program: Program for children grades K-6 which provides care, homework help, tutoring and enrichment activities from the end of the school day - 6:00 PM, with full day on most school holidays. Serves Johnson Park, Community Park and Riverside schools in Princeton, plus schools in Lawrenceville, Montgomery Township, and Villa Victoria Academy in Ewing. YWCA Princeton Nursery School: School providing a relaxed atmosphere and flexible scheduling which enables children to grow at their own pace. Features stories, art, songs, crafts, music, games and movement, plus organized and free play for children ages 2 1/2 - 6, from 9:15 AM - 12:15 PM; variety of preschool classes and programs for children and their parents, 9:15 AM - 2:00 PM. YWCA Princeton Child Care Center at Valley Road: Year-round school providing full day-care services for children ages 2 1/2 - 6, MON-FRI from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, as well as language and special skill development to non-English-speaking children and their parents. English as a Second Language (ESL and ESL /Literacy): Integrated program open to men and women, designed to present a well-rounded experience for all levels of language skills. DESCRIPTION
An informal bicycle club interested in discovering the natural beauty of central New Jersey on planned routes of flat terrain. Each ride culminates in a group lunch, either "brown bag" or at a quaint restaurant. Multispeed bikes recommended and helmets required.
