DESCRIPTION
A voluntary non-profit health organization whose mission is to promote and support research directed at discovering a treatment and ultimately a cure for Huntington's Disease (HD); to help individuals affected by HD and their families through support and services; and to educate both the public and health care professionals about HD.

Support services: helps families obtain counseling, social, financial, legal help and referrals to other community services
Medical services - comprehensive diagnostic evaluation/treatment and rehabilitation therapies
Genetic services: makes available prenatal and presymptomatic testing and genetic counseling
Support Groups
Placement and Protection: helps families place patients in long-term care facilities and follows their progress

PROGRAMS
Central Jersey HD Support Group: Meets second WED of the month from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM at Leisure Chateau Care Center, 962 River Avenue, Lakewood, NJ. Call Judy Cerciello, MSW, LNHA at 732-370-8600.
HD Support Group for Caregivers. Meets 4th WED of the month, 6:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at UMDNJ, UBHC North Building, 667 Hoes Lane, Piscataway, NJ. Call Christine Hogan, LCSW, at 732-235-5993.
Central Jersey: Comprehensive Care Clinic at Piscataway. One of 3 Comprehensive Care Clinics serving Northern, Central and Southern regions of New Jersey, operated in collaboration with UMDNJ's 3 medical schools. All 3 clinics provide ongoing specialized treatment for individuals with Huntington's Disease as well as presymptomatic DNA testing for individuals at risk in accordance with the ethical guidlines recommended by the HDSA.
The Piscataway Clinic is held at UMDNJ-RWJ Medical School, Department of Psychiatry, 671 Hoes Lane, Room D333. Piscataway.
