DESCRIPTION
A non-profit interracial, inerfaith social action group, consisting of Princeton area congregations, which is committed to speaking the truth about everyday racism and other forms of prejudice and discrimination which seeks reconciliation, mutual respect and honesty among Princeton's diverse communities. The group supports and promotes social and economic justice and educational equity for all, with that goal of Princeton becoming a town in which the ideals of friendship, community and pride in diversity will prevail. Representatives of the area congregations involved attend the monthly meetings.
PROGRAMS
Study/Action Committees: housing , education and community relations
Participation in Unity Month
Interfaith Unity Award: presented annually to 2 students from the high school and middle school who have demonstrated leadership and exceptional commitment to promoting diversity and racial understanding.
Present initiatives: anti-racism training; monthly book discussion on racism and diversity; promotion of youth forum program on racism for middle school students
Past activities include: anti-racism workshops sponsored by NJ Dept. of Justice; lobbying on affordable housing; police profiling study.
