DESCRIPTION
A non-profit community-based organization of African-American and Latino-American men, founded to provide safe educational and recreational opportunities for minority Princeton youth, and to raise their social consciousness and personal self-esteem. Newly-formed, the group has hosted a neighborhood picnic, opened the John Street wading pool on weekends, and has begun organizing local youth into club-like groups that assemble periodically for meetings and activities. SOKS recently returned from taking 15 local youth (age 6-9) on a five-day trip to the Princeton-Blairstown Center, in North Jersey where they participated in confidence-building and learning exercises.
