DESCRIPTION
The lead New Jersey State government agency responsible for business development, attraction and retention, fostering trade and investment, increasing tourism and providing a range of services to small businesses and women- and minority-owned firms. Organization units; commissions and authorities associated with the commission are outlined in the PROGRAMS field.

PROGRAMS
DEPARTMENTS, COMMISSIONS AND AUTHORITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT

Office of Business Advocate and Business Information is charged with assisting businesses that are having difficulty navigating through state regulations. It also spearheads coordination efforts for projects involving multiple departments and agencies where regulations are at issue

Department of Business Attraction and Development: The agency charged with attracting and retaining businesses in New Jersey. It provides a proactive, integrated business retention/expansion/attraction program, including both domestic and international services.

Department of Business Services is responsible for developing small businesses and women- and minority-owned firms. The Department also encompasses the Commission's Call Management Center.

Department of Marketing: The department that handles all public relations activities for the Commission. It promotes New Jersey as a premier destination for vacation and economic development. It includes marketing, advertising and public relations activities.

Council of Economic Advisors: The permanent economic advisory organization reporting directly and independently to the Executive branch of government, the Legislature, and the public. It analyzes current economic trends and conditions, issues annual and mid-year forcasts of state economic activity, and provides advice on public pulicy issues impacting the State's economy. The Council is comprised of four legislative appointees and a Chairman appointed by the Governor.

Office of Urban Enterprise Zone: the office that promotes growth and development within 37 targeted cities (called Urban Enterprise Zones) by offering various incentives.

Urban Enterprise Zone Authority: The permanent advisory body which reports directly and independently to the Executive branch of government, the Legislature, and the public on urban development issues in New Jersey.

New Jersey-Israel Commission: An organization established on May 31, 1989, by Executive Order in order to enhance New Jersey's ability to implement the stated goals of New Jersey's Sister State Agreement with Israel, which is a symbol of the potential for cooperation that exists between New Jersey and Israel.

Motion Picture and Television Commission: The organization that promotes the film and television industry in New Jersey by attracting on-location film and television production.
