The Center provides start-up support and customized programs. Contact Christine Harris, 609-252-9300, Ext 112.

New Jersey Peer to Peer (NJPTP): Currently established in over 110 middle schools throughout New Jersey, this is a comprehensive school-community prevention program that utilizes team mentoring and peer leadership to promote healthy living and school safety. The primary goal is to reduce the use of tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, and other dangerous substances among middle school students. Program components include learning about substances, parent-teen communication, stress management, violence prevention, problem-solving, decision making, refusal skills, and learning about community resources. New Jersey Teen Prevention Education Program (NJ Teen PEP): Designed to increase knowledge, skills, and abilities regarding sexual health among high school students. As part of a coordinated and comprehensive strategy to address teen health issues, NJ Teen PEP schools implement a year-long sexual health education course for upper-class students based on the nationally recognized HiTOPS (Health Interested Teens Own Program on Sexuality) curriculum and the model of peer-to-peer educdation developed by PCLT. Contact Rebecca Brown, 609-252-9300, Ext. 113.

REBEL 2: a middleschool tobacco prevention after-school program that emerged out of a statewide tobacco prevention program for high school students called REBEL (Reaching Everyone by Exposing Lies). REBEL 2 shares REBEL's focus on helping students, their families and communities to change social norms about tobacco. Students attend bi-monthly, after-school meetings that focus on tobacco education and prevention skill-building through lively, interactive activities. As a culmination of their learning REBEL 2 students learn to facilitate interactive presentations that introduce elementary students to the dangers of tobacco use. REBEL 2 is sponsored and funded by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, with funds from the increase in the New Jersey cigarette tax. (P.L. 2002, c.33)
