DESCRIPTION
A private agency providing long-term, one-on-one companionship to "at-risk" children in order to prevent delinquency and emotional problems. Volunteer adults are screened, trained and matched for a weekly outing with the children; group activities are also offered. Professional case management assistance is available at any level when the need arises. Affiliated with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America.
SERVICES
Companionship - Adult mentoring - At-risk youth
PROGRAMS
Mentor Program: School-based program similar to the Traditional Match Program described above, with less time commitment required on the part of the adult volunteers; a one-hour per week meeting with the child occurs at school.
Cars for Kids' Sake: Used car donation program whose proceeds support Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Cars are towed away for no charge at the participant's request; tax benefits are allowed for the charitable contribution. Call 800-859-6526.
