Trustees | Library Board Minutes | Meeting Schedule
Governance
The Princeton Public Library is one of six joint public
libraries in New Jersey established to serve two or
more municipalities — in this case: Princeton Borough
and Princeton Township. It is governed by
an independent Board of Trustees as described in detail in the New Jersey Statutes Annotated,
Title 40, Chapter 54 (Libraries and Reading Rooms).
Board Composition
The Board of Trustees consists of 9 members:
- Three members from Princeton Borough
- Three members from Princeton Township
- Three statutory members (or their alternates designated
annually for one-year terms): the Mayor or Princeton
Borough, the Mayor of Princeton Township and the
Superintendent of the Princeton Regional Schools
or his or her designee.
Under N.J. law, two of the three citizens appointed by each mayor must live in the same municipality.
